It’s Thanksgiving week and we’re thankful that Baltimore keeps bringing the vintage. One of the latest new additions to ATTIC is Cedar & Cotton.
The District’s vintage and used furniture scene has hit a rough patch over the past few years. Fortunately, some of our losses are being offset by the opening of stores in nearby Baltimore. Wishbone Reserve, which first opened its doors in 2015, is one of the more recent additions to ATTIC.
Over the past two years, we’ve seen the departing of many great vintage stores including Off the Beaten Track Warehouse, Hunted House and Millennium. So given those losses, it’s great to report on a new store that recently opened and is included on ATTIC — Agent Upcycle of Catonsville / Baltimore.
We’re pleased to welcome another furniture dealer from the Baltimore area, Spilled Paint Design. The store offers a very nice and eclectic mix of furniture pieces, as well as artwork and decorative objects. Styles include midcentury modern, hollywood regency, art deco, industrial and more.
Six months ago we launched ATTIC as a way of highlighting small, local, independent furniture stores and dealers. We did it to make shopping with them easier and to help them thrive in a city that is rapidly changing and undergoing tremendous development. We’re proud of what we accomplished with ATTIC. It has led to tens of thousands of dollars of confirmed sales at stores throughout the DMV and helped raise the profile of vintage furniture as a wonderful home furnishing option. And now we’re hoping we can have the same success and similar impact by launching ATTIC Fashion.
You probably already know this: don’t fear I-95 (except during rush hour). There are some great stores up in Baltimore. And ATTIC now showcases the furniture of one more, Sturgis Antiques.
The coolest store of Takoma, Trohv, is now listed on ATTIC. Their Baltimore location will also be listing items in the near future. And better yet, Trohv is an ATTIC featured store, which means they’re extending a 5% discount* to ATTIC users.
Trohv is an inventive, independently-owned shop featuring home goods and gifts. ATTIC will be featuring their vintage goods and one-of-a-kind pieces made by artisans using reclaimed materials.
